🌟🌙🔮WHAT REALLY *IS* SELF CARE?🔮🌙🌟 Since I talk a lot about how tarot can be used as a self care practice, in my next IGTV vid I am planning to discuss what exactly self care is, anyway, and spoiler: it isn't just going to get a pedicure. Self care is about taking the steps necessary to promote our own physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual wellbeing - setting healthy boundaries, leaving toxic environments and giving ourselves permission to take up time, resources and space for ourselves. Self care is a concept that has received a lot of lip service lately but it can be very superficial, used in a promotional way to sell beauty and spa products or yoga mats. But *pampering/luxuriating* and *self care,* though there can be overlap, are not the same thing. 🌟🌙😣🔮FEMININITY IS POWER🔮🌙🌟 This year I am bringing back my live, in-person tarot talks and my favorite topic is feminism and femininity within the tarot. I have always been struck by how tarot - at least the more traditional decks - can simultaneously depict rigid gender roles but also value an even balance between masculinity and femininity (yin and yang). I'm fascinated by how tarot treats strength as a feminine virtue, and how the sacred feminine pops up time and time again in different cards. I've realized that a lot of people want to take my in-person tarot workshops but logistical obstacles prevent that from happening, whether it's a busy work schedule, childcare obligations, or not being in close physical proximity. So I am moving all my tarot training online! Hours and hours of training video content, exercises, practical tips, and also a built in student community with moderated discussion so that students still get the benefit of interactive learning and additional outside perspective. 🌟🌙🔮WHO DO YOU WANT TO LEARN FROM?🔮🌙🌟 I have been spending *a lot* of time lately thinking about my teaching style and how to convey information about tarot in the most effective way, since I am launching a new online tarot classroom (see link in bio). And I am coming to realize it isn't just about efficacy but also about what kinds of values and experience I want to impart - what kinds of new tarot readers do I want to create? I don't want just clones of myself out there. So I'm trying to develop a curriculum - or, rather, adapt my existing curriculum to an online format - that encourages students to develop an intuitive understanding of the cards and to develop their own reading style from the get go. The biggest challenge is converting the interactive exercises I use in my in-person workshops for online, any-time access without losing the benefits of feedback and compare & contrast with other students, but I have some tricks up my sleeve. I am making it work! But it is a slow going process and takes time to build. I am very excited for classroom launch in March! .
